Kiel became the Imperial military port of Germany in 1871 and, when its canal was opened to connect the Baltic and the North Seas in 1895, the town began to control the largest artificial waterway in the world.
Kiel is the ideal location for a relaxing vacation in Germany with an MSC cruise: it is simple and quiet, even during the Kieler Woche international regatta, an event not to be missed by sailing enthusiasts. The few city museums can be visited in one morning, however, if you want to get acquainted with Kiel you cannot ignore its waterways, to which the town is indissolubly bound: they can be visited by taking the Kiellinie footpath or taking a cruise along the Kieler Förde and along the canal.
A spacious promenade along the pier will give you the chance to admire a variety of vessels of all sorts, amongst which the dinghies of the sailing school and, from the wet dock in front, the best view one can get of Kiel. 6 km south

MSC Parking is bookable online up to 48 hours before your cruise departure. Bookings after the 48 hour deadline can be made directly with the provider, and the same reduced rates will be applied when presenting your cruise travel documents.

How to reach the park:
Ostuferhafen is signposted on main roads in Kiel. At first, follow the signs stating "Fähre", "Ostufer" and later on "Ostuferhafen". Upon arrival, please navigate through the gate on lane 1 into the harbour area.

Flughafen Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel Airport (https://www.hamburg-airport.de/en) is located around 95km from the cruise port.
- If you have booked your flight via MSC, your transfer to the cruise terminal is already included. One of our multilingual staff will meet you at the exit of the airport and guide you to your bus, which will bring you directly to the terminal.
- If you have arranged a flight yourself, MSC Cruises offers you the possibility to book an individual airport transfer. The booking is made via your travel agency or our contact center, indicating the flight details (airline, flight route from / to, flight number, departure and arrival time).
- If you choose to continue by public transportation take the "Kielius" airport bus, which will take you to Kiel ZOB (Kiel Central Bus Station) in Auguste-Viktoria-Straße – 200m walking distance from Kiel Central Station. The journey takes about 1.5 hours.
- Alternatively, take the city train S1 to Hamburg Central Station, from there take the Regional Express to Kiel, which departs every hour and requires about an hour journey. From the central station in Kiel, take our shuttle service to the Ostuferhafen terminal or take the bus line 11 (direction Dietrichsdorf) to stop Grenzstraße located 200 meters from the terminal Ostuferhafen.
- MSC Shuttle Service: On the day of embarkation we will provide you with a chargeable shuttle service from Kiel main station to the Ostuferhafen terminal for € 10, - per person / per line! The shuttle is continuous, from the first slot up to 4 hours before the ship's departure. The meeting point for embarking guests via train station will be at exit CAP (direction of the restaurant ‘Cabana’). Down the stairs (elevator available) at Kaistraße you will find the luggage drop off as well as the busses, both are marked with MSC beach flags. Busses will be parked at the so called ‘Kaisertreppe’. The place is also marked with an MSC beach flag.
This service can be only booked on site at one of our hostesses. The cost will be charged to the onboard account. Concerning the disembarkation transfer the guests can buy it directly on board.
- Alternatively, you can use the public bus from Kiel main station line 11 (direction Dietrichsdorf) to stop Grenzstraße. After 200 meters walk you will reach the terminal Ostuferhafen.
- You can also request the MSC Transfer service by calling our contact centre or your travel agent.
